In the world of beauty, there is a fine line that separates innovation from gimmick. When Milk Makeup released its Cooling Water Jelly Lip Gloss, which went viral on TikTok, I couldn’t resist the suspicion that it might fall under the latter category. Can you blame my sarcasm? The product looks like jelly with a stretchy texture that is almost like a bear. I didn’t think that something so cute and fun would actually work, but I was pleasantly astonished.
Can you imagine a gloss that looks like jellies but actually makes your cheeks and lips glow? I was so in love with these adorable lip glosses, I decided to give some away as stocking fillers for my family and friends. They are small, affordable, and suitable for a wide range of skin tones. They’re the perfect gift for a beauty lover.
Application Tips
Lip Application
I love this lip gloss, but it’s easier to use and less error prone on the lips. My secret is to use a lip scrub first before applying the gloss. When my lips feel smooth and dry, I apply the gloss directly to my lips. Multiple layers can create a stunning effect. One layer will provide a translucent coverage. Once I am happy with the color I apply a lipliner, a layer or gloss to seal in moisture, and I’m ready to go. This gloss fades over time, but you can still see it on your lips for up to 10 hours.
Cheek Use

It took a lot of trial and error for me to find the right way to apply this product to my cheeks. But I finally achieved a beautiful, even flush. When I applied directly from the stick onto my cheeks, either on bare skin or with foundation, I would end up getting a patchy look. After several attempts, I found the perfect technique. If I’m using it over foundation or on clean, moisturised skin, I use a synthetic brush to pick up color and then pat the stick (not sweep) to diffuse the color. It will last all day without fading. I recommend locking it with a long-lasting spray.
Does it live up its reputation?
I absolutely believe that this viral product is worth its virality. It’s innovative, performs well, is undeniably adorable. It’s easy to throw in your bag and use while on the go.
The only thing I don’t like about these lip glosses are the limited shades. When the brand announced that they would be releasing two new shades after the original four, I hoped for more vibrant cherry-reds, terracottas or rich plums. All of them are in the pink and coral range. The brand is hoping to release more shades in the near future, but I’m confident you’ll like whatever color you choose.
In the world beauty, it’s often the smallest innovations which make the biggest discoveries. Milk Makeup Cooling Water Jelly Lip Gloss will keep you coming back for more.
